The Open Door: LEAKED
The new Evanescence album, The Open Door, has finally leaked to the internet. This news is being taken with shouts of joy from many fans, as they finally have new Evanescence; the wait is finally over! However, most are reacting with fear and uncertainty as well.

The early leak of this album is a bad thing because, now that people have the option to download it, many will not be convinced to buy it. They already have the album, after all, so why spend money to purchase what they already own? Now, it was bound to leak at some point, of course, but the fact that it leaked so early could be extremely detrimental.

Basically, people who hound the torrent sites waiting for leaks like this one to happen are going to get the cd for free no matter what. This can't be prevented. However, those who aren't as familiar with the web and how it works would most likely not get their hands on this album until it was released, had the leak not occured so early. Now, the cd has time to spread from the knowledgeable internet users to whoever wants it. If everybody has this cd, who is going to feel the urge to buy it? Don't get me wrong, it's fairly certain that most die-hard Evanescence fans are going to go pick up a copy... but what about all those people who just go with the flow: the temporary fans. This is a huge demographic which we are all depending on to purchase the cd in order to guarantee (or at least provide the hope for) the success of Evanescence's new release. The early leak threatens this hope. If Evanescence doesn't sell huge, might Wind-Up be tempted to delay the release of a third album even longer than it took for the band to release a follow-up to their debut? Or maybe Evanescence doesn't even release another album.

These would be extreme outcomes, but you get my drift. I'm not going to provide the link to download this cd. If you really want it, you go find it. But please, all of you: BUY IT. If you are going to download it, at least have the decency to spend the $9.88 it costs on Amazon to pre-order it, and just buy the damn thing. This is on link I will provide: tOD on Amazon. Don't be a thief.

Also, please do not post any links that direct people to a site at which the album can be downloaded. If that happens again, I'll be banning IP addresses.

The album leaked, guys. This is good and not good. It's good because OH MY GOD, THE ALBUM! It's bad because OH SHIT, THE RECORD SALES!

I'm not going to provide the link to the bittorrent download. I'm just going to ask that if you do find the link and you do download it, please please please buy the album, as well.

If people don't buy the album because they downloaded it, it can really really hurt Evanescence. We want a new album from Evanescence at some point in the future? We need them to make money. Buy it! Don't just download it.
